ShockBubble's Stages
Here's an alphabetical index of my stages; at the moment, it only includes a selection of my personal favourites, with more to be added as time goes on. At the moment, it's still a work in progress. More stages are to come ASAP. Full descriptions will remain at each stage's original page, for convenience and ease of navigation, but each stage has a short description in the tags anyway.
- Altitude Arena:
A small stage from my early days in 2009. The stage is quite hectic, and the ice and spikes keep everybody on their toes. It's a personal favourite, though it never got too much attention way back at the time of its creation.
DOWNLOAD
- Awakening Wood:
Part of my Pikmin 2 series, this stage was uploaded in late-2010. It is based on the level in the game of the same name. It's a nice, balanced medium stage, and is pretty true to its source.
DOWNLOAD
- Banshee Boardwalk:
A stage based on the Banshee Boardwalk track in Mario Kart 64. This was made as part of the Tournament Stage Contest late in 2010; though it was defeated, I'm still happy with it, and its joyously simple layout.
DOWNLOAD
- Brawl Corp:
A remix of a stage called Smash Inc. This stage is a medium stage from early in 2012, though the original design for the stage was actually devised three years earlier.
DOWNLOAD
- Cannon Cluster:
World 2-4 from Donkey Kong Country Returns. This was a level I really liked, with the challenge of the electric jellyfish known as Jellybobs and ships firing their cannons your way being quite enjoyable. This translated to plenty of stage ideas; hence, this stage, uploaded in 2011.
DOWNLOAD
- Celestial Installation:
I wasn't too fond of this stage after I originally uploaded it in 2009, but a later update at the beginning of 2010 really brought it out, so much that I even used its basic design to create a spiritual successor later on, Celestial Expansion.
DOWNLOAD
- Ceres Space Colony:
Inspired by Super Metroid, this stage was an early foray of mine into the world of vertical stages. It has been teetering on the edge of the TRP on the original site for a while on 8.9 with 8 votes, despite a downrate. I gave it some minor fixes in early 2012, helping to further improve it.
DOWNLOAD
- Champions' Pedestal:
One of my entries for my first ever contest; Dice of Fate, in 2009. The restriction placed on me meant I could only have small block as part of the playing surface. The unique recovery system of flying through the ramps on the bottom is one of my most creative layouts ever. It was also quite successful, as 2nd of over 30 entries in the contest, and also as my second stage to reach 10 votes; if not for a downrate, it would have become top-rated.
DOWNLOAD
- Charred Badlands:
A recent stage of mine, made in early 2012, that was quite well-received, and actually uses a style somewhat different to my more typical stages. It fits a lot it, even for a large stage.
DOWNLOAD
- Cybernetic Wonder:
A simple, small stage used as somewhat of a comeback from a break in stage-building in 2010. It was received well, due to it being quite pleasing to the eye.
DOWNLOAD
- Fountain Castle:
Another stage from early 2010 that pulled a lot of attention, with refined aesthetics and a nice, simple layout that solely uses floors and ice, which is quite unusual for me. After an update, it became one of my better efforts.
DOWNLOAD
- Generator C:
My most well-known stage, and at one point my "signature", it started off relatively simple as part of my first lot of stages in June 2009, but was updated eight times to make it as good as possible. It's been remixed several times, won Best Metroid Stage in the 2009 Community Awards, and spent two stints on the TRP before being downrated to sit at 8.7 with 22 votes. It depicts the room Generator C on planet Norion in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, kick-starting what became a long running series of Metroid Prime series stages.
DOWNLOAD
- Halfox Cruiser:
A hybrid stage made for a 2012 contest; a blend between the Brawl stages of Corneria and Battleship Halberd into one stage. Results are still pending for the contest, but I still like the stage.
DOWNLOAD
- Magmoor Workstation:
From the Magmoor Caverns in Metroid Prime, this stage represents the peak of my most prolific 2009 uploading, and is also one of my favourites among my library. Despite not initially attracting much attention, it has been reviewed well, and, after three updates, plays really smoothly.
DOWNLOAD
- Maridia:
An area of Zebes in Super Metroid, Maridia is one of my favourite videogame locations of all time. This stage features some creative use of ladders, and seemed to get a good reception when uploaded in 2010.
DOWNLOAD
- Quantum Spinner:
Winner of the Vertical Brawling Contest in 2011 and also Best Vertical Stage in the 2011 Community Awards, this stage is another among my finest, in my opinion at least. It is quite simple in layout, but it remains interesting enough to play on with the tight structures and use of features.
DOWNLOAD
- Shuffle Scuffle:
This stage was quite successful when it was uploaded in 2011, winning Best Hybrid Stage in the 2011 Community Awards, and sort-of winning the You Be The Judge contest, due to a still-unaddressed voting gaffe in the results. The stage is a hybrid of quite a few stages, comprising elements of six different stages from six different users.
DOWNLOAD
- Swingin' Arena:
The 13000th stage uploaded to the original SSBW back in 2010, this medium stage is simple enough in premise, but decent fun to play on. It was updated in 2011 to improve it slightly.
DOWNLOAD
- Switcheroo:
This stage depicts Level 7-6 from Donkey Kong Country Returns, and is one of my last stages uploaded before SSBW's closure in 2012. The stage is pretty much true to its source in terms of layout, making navigation easy enough as a result. The layout is pretty basic as well, except for the spike-spring pit, which is more inventive.
DOWNLOAD
- Umbra Citadel:
This is a tight medium stage I uploaded in 2011. It isn't based on anything in particular, but for some reason I like its layout. The spikes add a nice element of danger, and the block in the middle helps put distance between players.
DOWNLOAD
- Vertigo Valley:
Another stage I was unhappy with until I updated it to make improvements. It was uploaded in 2009, and updated in 2012. The actual layout of the stage is very simple, but the springs on the pillar below are a nice, creative twist that really adds to the stage by creating another way to recover.
