Don't expect cross-platform play for the next Super Smash Bros. games, because there won't be any. According to Sakurai, both versions of the game feature different stages, so cross-platform play won't happen. However, the games will be able to interact with each other, as gamers will be able to customize characters on the 3DS version and take them to the Wii U version.
